Bus Day 2013 was celebrated with much fanfare at Vyttila Mobility Hub
under the aegis of the Hub and various private buses associations at
Vyttila on Wednesday.

CHENNAI: At least 30 police personnel, including an Assistant Commissioner of Police, and ten others were injured when a ‘Bus Day' celebration turned violent in front of the Pachaiyappa's College here on Wednesday, police said.
According to police sources, about 100 students took a Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus from Broadway to their college as part of their ‘Bus Day' celebration around noon on Wednesday. A large posse of police personnel escorted them. On reaching the college premises, the students allegedly threw stones.
Government Arts College, Nandanam students tried to celebrate ‘Bus Day’ when they boarded a bus in Velachery. This is supposed to be their 30th consecutive year on the 23C route. But the police stopped them and did not make them to board the bus. They did get into an alternate bus in Velachery.

were deployed all over the city to discourage commuters from using
private vehicles in a bid to solve the worsening traffic mess, said
organisers.
